-Today at work we helped the Wymount crew (with over a thousand trees in your area, who WOULDN'T need help during the fall?), and amongst the leaves I found two wrappers--Tootsie Pop wrappers-- and BOTH of them had stars. Cool, huh? The sad part of this story is that also today I found a reliable source that shows that the "free-sucker-for-a-star-on-a-wrapper" thing is all a myth. In fact, I'd say it's probably the one the longest-running urban legends I've ever heard of, having been tossed around since about the 1930's. But c'mon, you know you like it when you find those stars.
-Also at work, I happened to look over and see this sweet bike on the rack. Yes I wish my bike was called this. Oh wait, actually I probably just want a bike. Preferably a Huffy.

-I haven't been grocery shopping for a *while*. While I must admit that there are a number of notable downsides to this, I'm now at the point where I can't just eat what's easiest or most obvious, I have to be creative to use the stuff I have. Like just now, I found this old, mega-intense-super pancake mix with things like cornmeal, ground oats, flour, etc. etc. It turned out to be amazing. So in the end, I'm finding two things: 1) I don't think I should be this excited about reinforcement for negative behaviors (I could really use some fruit in my fridge. . .) 2) Cooking really is fun, it's not as hard/time consuming as it seems, and against all odds, I'm actually pretty good at making stuff when I put my mind to it.
-I love the 100 Hour Board, and read it daily.
-I yelled myself hoarse cheering at the BYU Women's soccer game last night, but luckily I tend to have a pretty good recovery rate, so I should be able to cheer pretty loudly at the Men's basketball game tonight. (Who'da thunk it would be so fun to yell, "you got swatted!"?) Oh, and I really really want to win some free Nike shoes. I submitted four designs to the NikeID promotion/contest, and they're all pretty "sick" and/or "ballin.'" So yeah.
-For those who don't know (anyone but Julie and Nelson?), I've been getting rather into running recently. I've been running about 10 miles or so a week, and as I work my way up to doing 20, I've come to realize a number of things. 1) I want to do a half-marathon, and Nelson says there's one in January. 2 )I want to do a full marathon, I'm planning on St. George next October. 3) I bought some sweet Brooks running shoes at Runner's Corner in Orem recently, which have effectively served to fuel my growing passion for the sport 4) It's been such lovely weather recently, and I sweat a ton anyway, so the climate has been treating me well. Yup
-At this point I feel like I'd be really having to push myself to find anything to write about, and since I've only got one subscriber so far (props to Carrie!!), I think I'll stop for now.
Cheers.
PS: future topics: Brazil-- summer/winter 2009?, somebody.
